RAGAZZA DI STAPLES
or
I FEEL GREASY MOUTH-WATERING LINK A CHICKEN WING: A KRAKATAU OF SILK AND OIL

Walking into Staples
and the staff are all speaking
in French: gurgles wafting,
their lips fuller for it

And as I parle to you
olvido what words
I ought to say and I
just make the sounds

Your ojos, blue jays,
their haleine, a gust
in my gut, stick asali
and I forget why

I came to you – the feathers
of your skin unfurl:
le désir ajabi me persegue
a bonfire under my deck

Chehrah, pourquoi e per
ti, that fire melts me and
I am oil, dripping inside
je te veux, honey, feathers

And all, mah de miel
envelop me, before I
do, sure as my shoor
for you, my langue trips

As I gently drip
out of moi and
in toh, sweet Shiraz
I can’t drink, I slip

To your lips
made of honey
flips and hips
tutti sheereen
